摘要
The UN Ocean Decade's CoastPredict Programme seeks to turn the concept of an integrated global coastal ocean observing and prediction system into a practical reality for coastal communities and researchers everywhere. In July 2023, the programme rolled out its implementation framework, GlobalCoast, an initiative built to translate CoastPredict's goals into action by directing user-driven innovation toward solutions that will reshape the future of coastal resilience. GlobalCoast sets out to demonstrate the value of integrated, purpose-built satellite and in situ observing and forecasting systems for coastal waters, delivering innovative products and services for coastal resilience through collaboration with local stakeholders.
GlobalCoast's overarching goal is to develop solutions, standards, and applications for coastal resilience that can be replicated worldwide. Partners across the globe submitted more than 200 GlobalCoast Pilot Sites, revealing existing gaps in coastal observation and satellite products, regional stressors and vulnerabilities, priority areas for innovation and research, and specific coastal resilience needs within the UN Ocean Decade framework.
