摘要
The drop-out fuse is an important protective device in distribution networks, and its interruption transient process has a significant impact on system overvoltage levels and protection coordination performance. However, due to the complex evolution and strongly nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the internal arc, detailed physics-based modeling approaches are difficult to implement efficiently in transient simulations. To address this issue, this paper proposes a black-box model of the drop-out fuse based on an improved Mayr theory to describe the dynamic arc behavior during the interruption process. Based on the classical Mayr arc model, and considering the variation characteristics of arc conductance in drop-out fuses, conductance-dependent time constant and power loss parameters are introduced. An improved arc energy balance differential equation is thus established to enhance the model’s capability in representing arc development and extinction processes. A single-phase short-circuit simulation circuit is constructed on the MATLAB/Simulink platform to perform numerical solution and transient characteristic analysis. Simulation results indicate that the model parameters vary dynamically with arc conditions: during the stage from arc initiation to arcing, the time constant remains relatively small and the power loss remains relatively large, reflecting the fast dynamic response characteristics of the arc under strong gas blast; during the extinction stage, the time constant increases and the power loss decreases. The parameter variations are closely related to arc development. The proposed model can accurately reproduce key transient phenomena during interruption, including arc voltage peaks, current chopping characteristics, and arcing duration. The simulated waveforms are consistent with the typical interruption characteristics of drop-out fuses. Compared with the conventional Mayr model, the improved model exhibits superior dynamic response in transient process representation. The proposed model features a simple structure and physically interpretable parameters, providing an effective modeling approach for studying interruption mechanisms and evaluating the performance of drop-out fuses.
