摘要
Blockchain technology’s nature of decentralization in the consensus mechanism builds trust among untrusted parties. However, the complex mechanism of consensus makes it hard to handle scalability issues. Some research improvements in these situations are improved cryptographic algorithms and enhanced layered approaches. This study presents a detailed analysis of current solutions to scalability issues across four balancing dimensions. Layer-1 protocol enhancement (sharding, consensus reform, DAG-based architectures), Layer-2 off-chain extensions (rollup, payment channels, state channels), modular frameworks (Celestia, EigenLayer, Polygon 2.0), and cross-chain interoperability protocols. This study identifies performance trends and open challenges in blockchain. It derives six concrete future research directions: machine-learning driven adaptive sharding, lightweight zero-knowledge proof systems, hierarchical cross-chain architectures, storage-efficient consensus, unified benchmarking frameworks, and quantum-resistant composable designs. Our analysis shows that ZK-rollups currently offer the most favorable balance among throughput, security, and decentralization. These ideas are promising but still require extensive testing and validation before they are widely adopted.
