Investigating vibration generation mechanisms in planetary gear train (PGT) proves essential for health monitoring. Due to factors such as load and clearance, the actual meshing line frequently deviates from the theoretical mesh line, resulting in corner contact during the meshing process and leading to meshing impacts. Existing vibration signal models fail to accurately characterize the impact phenomenon. To this end, the corner contact impacts under healthy and fault state were analyzed, and then an improved vibration signal modeling was proposed. Comparative analysis of vibration characteristics considering and ignoring corner contact impact considerations under healthy and faulty conditions was conducted based on the proposed model. In addition, the vibration characteristics of planetary gear train under different loads were explored. The simulation studies reveal distinct sideband distribution patterns around meshing frequencies under varying loads. Results demonstrate significant amplitude growth in meshing frequency with increasing loads. Finally, an experimental analysis was carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model.
