Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains one of the most prevalent types of cancer in Singapore. According to the cancer registry annual report 2015, CRC was the most common cancer diagnosed in Singapore. In our study, we conducted a survey to assess the determinants of adherence towards CRC screening. We empirically found that the phenomenon of information avoidance exists in our sample - participants who deliberately choose not to screen for CRC and subsequently learn of their health status, even though it is financially and widely accessible. We further discuss other significant determinants towards CRC screening adherence.
