As an important building in water diversion projects, the shape of water intake is diverse, and the layered water intake shape is increasingly important due to environmental water intake and other needs. When there are multiple water levels behind the layered water intake and there are multiple flow patterns such as open flow and submerged flow behind the gate, special scheduling and operation methods need to be studied specifically to ensure safety. This article takes a certain project as an example to conduct physical model experiments on the special operation mode of controlling the water intake flow of the layered water intake gate. There is a water tongue open flow in the energy dissipation well after the water intake, which impacts the sidewall of the energy dissipation well and then directly impacts the bottom of the energy dissipation well. There is an excessive flow state from open flow to full flow in the main pipeline section; The pressure on the sidewalls, bottom plates, and inner walls of pipelines of the energy dissipation well meets safety requirements. The energy dissipation well has a gas replenishment effect but there is atomization cloud. It is recommended to add a cover plate at the top of the energy dissipation well and add ventilation holes on the side wall to meet the effect of gas replenishment and elimination of atomization cloud. At the highest operating head, the gate opening and closing force meets the requirements. The special scheduling operation mode and experimental results can provide reference for similar projects.
