The Three Gorges Reservoir is a key project for the protection and management of the Yangtze River. Since the reservoir started to store water in 2003, the water-silt conditions in the reservoir have undergone significant changes, which have had profound impacts on the water ecological environment in the reservoir. In order to understand the impact of silts in the Three Gorges Reservoir on nitrogen adsorption and desorption, the effects of solution concentration, silt content, and reaction time on adsorption and desorption were studied based on field surveys, indoor experiments and data analysis. The results showed that when the solution concentration was higher than 2.0 mg/L, adsorption was dominant, while release was dominant otherwise. Within the range of 0~2 g/L of silt content, the adsorption effect was more obvious. With the increase of silt content, the quantity of nitrogen adsorbed by silt also increased, but the quantity of nitrogen adsorbed per unit mass of silt decreased. The adsorption process of silt on nitrogen conformed to the Langmuir model, with a maximum adsorption quantity of 0.44 g/kg. There was desorption after silt adsorption of nitrogen, with a desorption rate of about 59.2%~71.7%.
