Abstract: The demand for healthcare products, especially wearable smart masks, has been increasing in recent years. The biosafety and degradability of smart masks are crucial for human health and environmental protection, we report a stereocomplexed poly(lactic acid) fiber membrane (SC-PLA/CZ NFMs) with high electroactivity for air filtration and self-powered respiratory monitoring systems. The structurally regular nanohybrid structure (CNT@ZIF-8) with large specific surface area was successfully synthesised by inducing the growth of zeolite imidazolium ester framework-8 (ZIF-8) on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) via microwave-assisted synthesis method. Based on the electrospinning spinning-electrospray technique, CNT@ZIF-8 was successfully embedded onto PLA fibers, and PLA composite nanofibrous membranes (SC-PLA/CZ) with different fiber diameters were prepared by modulating the mass fraction of CNT@ZIF-8 (6, 8, 10 wt%). The SC-PLA/CZ NFMs demonstrated an effective ability to intercept air particles. The interception efficiency for PM0.3 and PM2.5 was up to 88.3% and 96.1% at an air flow rate of 32 L/min, respectively. Additionally, the pressure drop remained relatively low at 67.6 Pa. Furthermore, this SC-PLA/CZ NFMs can monitor the respiratory status without external power supply for disease prevention as well as medical diagnosis. This study presents a simple mask filter with both filtration and monitoring functions that has great potential for self-powered health diagnostics.
