摘要
Nowadays urbanization is rapidly increasing in China, meanwhile, the number of mobile travelers using the digital map is rising even faster. Due to the use of geographic information in China is forbidden to the other overseas digital map providers such as Google Maps, TomTom, there were limited studies of evaluation for the performance of digital map services that focus on China. In this study, different algorithms were deployed to evaluate and cross-validate the inclusive value of one of the most popular digital maps in China which have over 400 million MAUs from civic, economic and social perspectives. The main objectives are evaluating the contribution of digital maps for transportation systems within four scales, safety travel, convenient travel, efficient travel and green travel, respectively. The results showed that the digital map and its geospatial service help users save more than 1.93 billion hours and 10.9 billion kilometers for a year by providing rational route planning and avoiding congestion in real-time. This saving is equivalent to 14.3 billion RMB time costs based on GDP per capita and 51.3 billion RMB fuel costs (684 million liters of fuel consumption). Meanwhile, it is estimated to reduce up to 1.6 million tons of CO2 emissions which is equivalent to 2.6 million people road traffic emissions based on IEA’s data for the China road transport sector. Digital maps could also benefit to safety, help police to assign traffic inducements through the platform. Traffic incidents reporting includes congestion, detour, accidents that could be transmitted to users through real-time voice notification to support a more secure journey. The total number of traffic incident voice notification is more than 26.5 billion times, and the average number of voice notification for each traffic incident is greater than 240 times. In total, it has contributed to 19.4 billion RMB inclusive value to society and civics.
