摘要
Many expressways around the world have reached the level of overhaul or unable to meet the growing traffic demands. Reconstruction and expansion on old expressways can minimize the cost of construction and save construction resources, which have great social, economic and environmental benefits. The mileage of Chinese expressways is large, it had successful attempt and practice for the reconstruction and expansion of expressway in China. Based on the Chinese engineering of Reconstruction and Extension and related literature, this paper focused on the characteristics of expressway reconstruction and extension engineering. This paper summarized the main transformation forms of the expressway reconstruction and expansion project, and analyzes its technical characteristics and design methods which are different from the new highway engineering. In addition, a comprehensive summary was carried out for the cost and economic benefits of the renovation and expansion project.
