Quantitative Evaluation Method for Asphalt Pavement Structure Integrity Based on Ground Penetrating Radar

摘要
To quickly evaluate inner condition of the asphalt pavement, the high dynamic Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) was used for detection at 80km/h. Aiming at three kinds of inner distresses, that is, uncompacted, interlayer voids and structure loose, the radar evaluation fingerprint database was established, and the coring verification was carried out. A comprehensive evaluation index, inner pavement condition index (IPCI) , is proposed, and is verified through the 11 high-speed in Jiangsu Province. The results show that the accuracy of coring verification based on radar detection fingerprint database is about 95%. The traffic volume has a double logarithmic relationship with IPCI, and the maintenance history have a semi-logarithmic relationship. The larger the traffic volume and the less the amount of maintenance engineering, the lower the IPCI score. GPR can be used for quantitative evaluation of pavement structural integrity to provide decision support for pavement maintenance.
