Pavement deformation distresses affect pavement safety, especially in rural roads. Efficient and accurate identification of pavement deformation distresses is of great significance for rural roads to find weak links and make road maintenance plans. This paper presents a method for determining pavement deformation distresses based on pavement evenness. Using a large number of observation data of rural road, two indexes, namely 3-meter Longitudinal Profile Variance (LPV3)and International Roughness index（IRI）, were selected. Through in-depth data analysis, the model between two types of indicators and deformation disease depth was established, and the accuracy of the model was verified. The model can make accurate quantitative discrimination of rural road pavement deformation distress and meet the needs of rural road macro-management.
