With the development of petrochemical industry in the world and the increasing volume of dangerous goods transportation in China, it is more difficult to supervise the dangerous goods transportation for Ministry of Transport (MOT). As an effective technical methodology, government standards are playing an increasingly important role in strengthening the supervision on the transportation safety of dangerous goods. MOT pays attention to the standards setting for dangerous goods transportation. By 2019, 16 national standards (GB) and 36 transportation industry standards (JT) had been implemented, which supported the safety management of dangerous goods transportation on road and water ways, but there were also some problems as insufficient number of standards and imperfect standards system. This study focused on the basic elements of dangerous goods transportation process, as system infrastructure, equipment, transportation and management services. The structure of standards system and 39 standards demand were analyzed to construction of standards system for dangerous goods transportation. Also, the main policy of standardized was suggested in order to provide technical support for the supervision on dangerous goods transportation.
