Based on the study of the impact mechanism of airports on regional economic development, this paper uses the data of Mianyang Nanjiao Airport from 2002 to 2017 to empirically analyze the interaction between small and medium airports and regional economic development, with a view to encouraging and promoting the development of airports in China Provide measurement methods and theoretical support. In the empirical analysis section, first, this paper constructs an air transportation scale index system for small and medium airports and an evaluation index system for regional economic development. Then, this paper uses the entropy method to select the key element indicators of the airport to obtain the airport transportation capacity equivalent, and uses the principal component analysis method to extract the high-load indicators of the regional economic system. Finally, this paper establishes the SVAR model of airport transportation capacity and regional economic relationship, analyzes the structural impulse response and variance decomposition, and concludes that small and medium airports have not had a significant positive impact on regional economic development.
