The optimization model and algorithm of aircraft gate assignment were studied in high-density traffic airport with lots of airlines and gates by considering both operational safety and operational efficiency. First, based on the model of aircraft gate assignment with push-out conflict avoidance, minimizing conflict frequency is introduced into the model as new objective function to avoid unsolvable problems for excessive constraints. Then coarse-grained parallel genetic algorithm, which migration operator implemented by using random unidirectional ring, migration occurrence probability and migration probability is designed to optimize the model. Numerical examples were designed to analyze the effectiveness of the model and algorithm. The results indicate that robust assignment with conflict-avoidance can be achieved while the gates are enough, and robust assignment with minimum conflicts can be got while gates are shortage. The comparison of algorithms shows that coarse-grained parallel genetic algorithm is better than sequential genetic algorithm. It is clear that the model and algorithm can assign aircrafts to gates safely and efficiently in high-density traffic airport.
