Abstract: Recent years, with the development of economic and transportation, tourist highway has been discussed as a hot topic in highway construction and management. However, the method of the tourist highway route plan still required to be improved, and there was no certain standard of tourist highway route plan for governments and engineers. In order to promote the development of tourist highway plan and construction, an evaluation index system, as well as the evaluation method, was provided. The evaluation index system of the tourist highway route was established from environment, construction, services, tourist resources and human landscapes, and the weight of each factors which referred in the tourist highway route evaluation system was determined by analytic hierarchy process. Then, the fuzzy comprehensive assessment method and the maximum membership degree principle were involved to evaluate the tourist highway route scheme. Subsequently, this approach was provided to evaluate the Yunnan provincially regional tourist highway route, and the results showed that this approach was reasonable and feasible. Above all, the evaluation index system and assessment method of tourist highway route has a practical prospect, and was expected to provide a theoretical guidance for tourist highway planning and management.
