摘要
With growing concerns about long-distance leisure travel across the urban agglomeration in China, there are more and more studies focused on the mode choice of tourists, and it is found that ground transportation is increasingly attractive to tourists. Carsharing is a burgeoning, attractive model for individuals without private cars. Understanding the determinants of long-distance tourists’ intention to carsharing is essential to improve the carsharing market’s expansion and profitability; it’s also helpful to improve the public transportation service in travel cities. In this research, the theoretical framework contains tourists’ attitudes towards carsharing, long-distance travel experience, travel habits to explore their impacts on tourists’ intention of carsharing. The model was empirically tested by using the stated preference data of 224 individuals from Guanzhong urban agglomeration, China. Interesting findings suggest that tourists’ attitudes significantly influence carsharing preference; however, experience in past trips and travel habits do not always directly affect carsharing intention. Although “experience” shows a direct effect on attitudes, and “habits” have a direct impact on attitudes and experience. These findings highlight that long-distance leisure travelers’ carsharing intention is more significantly influenced by their inner attitudes towards characteristics of carsharing, and experience and habits also affect them. This research contributes to theory-building in carsharing intention, also informs government and carsharing businesses on how to promote carsharing usage.
