With the development of the economy and implementation of the policy about exempting tolls on highways during public holidays, heavy traffic jams often occur on many highways during public holidays in China. Many researchers have studied the reliability of road networks from different perspectives.However, these studies seldom involve the reliability evaluation of regional highway networks, especially the reliability of highway networks during public holidays. The study of holiday’s highway operation reliability is of great significance for the holiday travel management or travel guidance. Based on highway network geographic data and highway detector data, reliability of highway network in Guizhou province was evaluated and analyses show the following results: (1)Highway in Guizhou province has high time reliability and no obvious peak in non-holiday.(2) The average vehicle speed at 12:00 noon can be used as the optimal free flow velocity, not the speed at night.(3)Only part of the highway’s time reliability significantly reduced during public holiday.(4)Traffic guidance information release should be real-time, especially during holidays. At the end of this paper, some suggestions for travel management and travel guidance on highway during public holidays are put forward.
