This paper selects Zhengzhou-Xian high speed railway (HSR) as the research object, extracts the passenger ticket data for the year from August 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017, and analyzes the passenger flow characteristics of Zhengzhou-Xian HSR from the characteristics of the spatio-temporal patterns of passenger flow and the travel behavior of passengers. Among them, the characteristic analysis of the spatio-temporal patterns of passenger flow includes the analysis of daily average hourly passenger flow, the law of passenger flow change, passenger flow intensity, and passenger flow distance, the analysis of passenger travel behavior characteristics includes the analysis of the time of advance purchase of tickets and the regular analysis of travel time and departure time. Based on the passenger flow characteristics of Zhengzhou-Xian HSR, this paper makes suggestions for the optimization of Zhengzhou-Xian HSR's operation strategy from the three points of strengthening passenger transport marketing, optimizing transport organization and perfecting the transfer service system.
