摘要
An intersection is a typical collision hot spot in the urban traffic network. Especially at the intersection with a large number of pedestrians, the conflicts between pedestrians and traffic mixing flow and turning vehicles are more serious, resulting in frequent acceleration and deceleration of vehicles, increased delays, and aggravated traffic congestion. Meanwhile, it also indirectly affects the safety of intersections and increases vehicle energy consumption. Therefore, the design and consideration of pedestrian crossing time is particularly important in the process of counteracting the negative influence of conflict between vehicles and pedestrians. This study is aimed at an intersection with relatively large pedestrian volume and traffic flow in a core area of Xi 'an city to conduct a multidimensional analysis of pedestrian crossing time. Based on the combination of basic data investigation and simulation results, the impact of different pedestrian timing designs on intersection delay and fuel consumption is analyzed. The results illustrate that the variation trend of delay is very different under diverse design of pedestrian crossing time. The late start and early end method would be more likely to reduce delays and fuel consumptions at the proposed intersection.
