摘要
The driverless vehicle or intelligent vehicle (IV) that has got several functions combined such as environment perception, planning and decision making, operation and control and so on. They also use various sensors like cameras, laser radars, GPS to percept the surrounding environment in real-time to extract the obstacles around the driving vehicle and then pick out the available areas so that the vehicle can move on successfully. This paper briefly introduces several general methods concerning the sensors mentioned before and explores the research actuality and findings in environmental perception. Finally, it concludes that methods based on laser radar turn out to be more fruitful thus will be widely used in the future.
