The development of Shanghai into an excellent Global city is bound to attract a large number of businesses and tourists, which will be des-tined to become a global-hub type of World-famous tourist city. This paper focuses on the operation mode of the city tourist pass in the sev-eral World-famous cities, and particularly in Shanghai. Based on the comparison of operational status of the city tourist pass within the Global cities, this paper reviews the history of Shanghai City tourist Pass, particularly for the development and operation mode of the product - Shanghai Pass, and provides a comprehensive range of prac-tical experiences and advices for the future development of the Shang-hai Pass. Systematic analysis of Shanghai tourism resources and tour-ist market development during Global city process was also carried out. It was recommended that with the appropriate design, Shanghai Pass will improve the structure of tourism products, promote the standardization and convenience of urban tourism and contribute to Shanghai World-famous tourist city development.
