More and more urban residents choose non-motorized vehicles to achieve the "last mile" of travel. Therefore, we have conducted research on the safety of non-motorized vehicle riding on urban roads. We used the SMI to obtain the visual characteristics data of non-motor vehicle drivers riding in different road environments. Accordingly, compared the actual data of non-motor vehicle drivers, which include fixation duration, saccade duration, pupil diameter, saccade velocity, and saccade amplitude data from different road traffic environments. The experimental results show that non-motorized vehicle riders on the city road search for the target information mainly by scanning activities; and in the complex and crowded traffic environment, riders usually take longer each time to get enough information. The research results of the article can provide guidance to the safety riding of non-motor vehicles, which is conducive to the safe, healthy and sustainable development of green transportation.
