Due to the harsh climate environment in Northwest China, strong wind-sand weather broke out all year round, which exposed the external insulators of power grid lines and high-speed train roof to strong wind-sand environment, leading to insulation discharge and frequent accidents. The characteristics of gas discharge in wind-sand environment are quite different from those of static gas discharge. The air flow and sand have an important influence on the discharge ionization process in windy and sandy environment, Taking the uniform field formed by plate-plate electrode as the analysis object, considering the influence of airflow speed, sand distorting the electric field and sand charge capture on the discharge process in strong wind-sand environment, the analytical expression of Townsend ionization coefficient under wind-sand condition is derived by using the dipole-enhanced model. The research results have theoretical reference value for quantitative analysis of gas discharge characteristics in strong wind-sand environment.
