The use of linear synchronous machines (LSM) with long stators is an attractive technology of high-speed transportation. The design optimization of such a machine in terms of force requirements and power density for a hyperloop technology, was reported previously. Stator fluxes are at risk of redistributing in the assembly structure, creating losses and drag forces. A configuration is proposed, that assures structural integrity for loads in hyperloop technologies, whilst assuring high efficiency. A comparison of suitable electromagnetic steels is made using transient loss calculations.
