The magnetic leakage phenomenon at the top of the traditional permanent magnet flux-switching linear motor(PMFSLM) is studied, and a new U-shaped permanent magnet flux-switching linear motor(UPM-FSLM) is proposed. The magnetic pole structure is changed to reduce the magnetic leakage and increase the thrust.Response surface method(RSM) is used to optimize the width and radius of the permanent magnet as the optimization variables, and the thrust and thrust ripple are the optimization targets.The result shows that UPM-FSLM has the advantages of large thrust, low thrust ripple, and high structural strength.
