Here, the influence of slot and pole number combination on the performance of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor with consequent-pole permanent magnet structure (CP-PMLSM) is analyzed. First, by using magnetic circuit method, the working principle and high permanent magnet (PM) utilization of CP-PMLSM are introduced. Then, finite element models of 16 selected CP-PMLSMs with different slot and pole number combinations are established, electromagnetic properties of these motors are fully investigated and compared. Finally, the slot and pole number combination selection criteria of CP-PMLSM are obtained according to the preceding analysis results.
