Two new cerebroside metabolites were isolated and purified from the fermented extract of Hortaea werneckii in the marine fungus, namely Hortacerebroside A(1): 1-
O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(2S,3R,4E,8E)-2-[(2′R)-2′-hydroxy-3′-Pentadecenoyl]-9-met-hyl-heneicosa-4,8-dien-1,3-diol and Hortacerebroside B(2): 1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-
(2S,3R,4E,8E)-2-[(2′R)-2′-hydroxypentadecanoylamino]-9-methyl-heneicosa-4,8-dien-1,3-diol were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and by comparison of the spectral data with those of related cerebroside analogues. In addition, the two compounds have a significant inhibitory effect on NO produced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages. The IC50 value of Hortacerebroside A (1) was 6.69 µM, and the IC50 value of Hortacerebroside B (2) was 5.49 µM.
