Radar mainlobe jamming has attracted considerable attention in the field of electronic countermeasures. When the direction of arrival (DOA) of jamming is close to that of the target, the conventional methods will fall in ineffectiveness for the suppression of mainlobe jamming. Besides, mainlobe jamming suppression based on blind source separation (BSS) can deteriorate the target direction estimation. In this paper, a BSS based range direction estimation in mainlobe jamming is proposed to deal with the failure or performance degradation of the traditional method. First of all, mainlobe jamming component and desired signal component are extracted by exploiting BSS method in time domain. Then, beamforming-based oblique projection method is employed to suppress the mainlobe jamming. Finally, the range direction of target is estimated from the results after suppression. Experimental results utilizing several simulations and measured data indicate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
