The purpose of adaptive digital beamforming (ADBF), is to obtain the biggest gain in the expected direction, at the same time suppress interfering signals automatically. For phased-multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar applied to
large array, the overall ADBF process suffers from heavy computing
burden. It is because the signal processing is conducted on the
virtual array. Therefore, an ADBF algorithm should consider not
only high output signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio (SINR),
but how to reduce computational complexity. This paper presents
an equivalent transmit ADBF process technique whose essence is
adding a beamforming module, which guarantees the high output
SINR and greatly reduces the computational complexity.
