The hongshuizhuang formation shale is the main hydrocarbon source layer in the Yanliao faulted depressions and it has good potential of hydrocarbon generation. The research on hongshuizhuang formation is relatively weak in western liaoning depression,
And the poor understanding of petroleum and gas resources status restricts the subsequent oil and gas exploration work.The sample from LLD2 well and three profiles in Lingyuan area weresystematic carried out, and the maturity test, type and abundance of organic matter were also completed. The experimental test results show that: the organic matter abundance of source rock in hongshuizhuang formation in Lingyuan area is relative high and dominated by typeⅠ-Ⅱ1, locally with type Ⅱ2-Ⅲ,and vitrinite ranges from 1.15% to 2.26%, suggesting that it has entered a mature atage with a large number of hydrocarbon generating.There are two sets of source-reservoir-cap assemblage in Lingyuan area, and it is in favorable reservoir facies belts. It shows good prospects for oil and gas exploration.
