Objective: to explore the knowledge of HPV vaccine, the acceptance for this vaccine and its influencing factors among high school girls.
Methods: multistage cluster sampling and questionnaire were used to collect the information of HPV vaccine awareness and the acceptance of vaccination of 782 girls in grade one and grade two in a district of Changsha, Hunan province.Multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze the factors influencing the willingness of high school girls to receive HPV vaccine.
Result: 245 (31.33%) and 273 (34.91%) had heard about HPV and HPV vaccine before the survey, respectively, and 542 (69.31%) indicated that they would like to receive HPV vaccine. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that students with high per capita annual household income (OR=1.181, 95%CI: 1.023~1.363), Short vaccination time (OR=0.404,95%CI:0.266~0.615), heard of HPV vaccine (OR=1.618,95%CI:1.807-2.407), and believed that the vaccine was not expensive (OR=0.624, 95%CI: 0.533~0.729) had high vaccination intention.
Conclusion: Knowledge of HPV vaccine and the willingness to receive this vaccine among high school girls still need to be improved. It is suggested that school should strengthen the knowledge of HPV health education, the relevant government agencies should increase publicity to promote vaccination in the age-appropriate groups.
