The performance of natural draft counter-flow wet cooling towers(NDCWCTs)is greatly affected by the environment, especially the crosswind which may destroy the axisymmetrical aerodynamic field, reduce the ventilation and cooling efficiency.Installing cross-wall in the rain zone is one of the windproof solutions. In this paper, the NDCWCTs with cross-wall in rain zone matching 600MW unit is selected as the model,and the operation of the tower under different crosswind speeds was analyzed, finding: (1)under the crosswind condition, the leeward side of the cross-wall on the windward side has a relatively large vortex, which reduces the relative velocity of air and water and weakens the convective heat transfer and convective mass transfer between air and water. At the same time, the air velocity vector distribution is consistent with the gas-water temperature field and the air humidity field distribution; (2)The ventalition and cooling number of the cooling tower are greater when the cross-wall is straight arrangement(SA) than when the cross-wall is oblique arrangement(OA), which indicates that the cooling performance of the cooling tower is better when the cross-wall is SA.
