Calcium looping cycle for post-combustion CO2 capture is one of the most promising carbon capture technologies in recent years. However, the presence of SO2 in the flue gas results in the sulfation of the CaO-based sorbent, thus reducing the ability of the sorbent to capture CO2. In this paper, the effects of slphation on CO2 cycle capture performance and structure-performance relationship during carbonation and calcination were studied. First, the carbon capture adsorption performance of the NaBr-modified calcium-based sorbent in the presence of SO2 was investigated by a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). The adsorption capacity and cycle decay rate of the unmodified calcium-based sorbent were compared. NaBr can significantly improve the sulfation cycle characteristics of calcium-based sorbents, and maintains the stability of carbonation cycle performance.The microstructure of the sorbent was tested by N2 adsorption-desorption apparatus, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FSEM).
