This paper firstly simulated the down-blown injection copper smelting process with the numerical model established. The combustion characteristics of biodiesel ejected from a nozzle immersed in copper smelting were examined. The gas from the biodiesel combustion was examined at various O2 volume fractions, and the simulation model was experimentally verified. The results reveal that the biodiesel immersion combustion process is not continuous, and primarily occurs in the bubble connected to the nozzle. The bubble area is the high-temperature zone in the melt. The temperature change is divided into four stages which includes an irregular change, followed by stabilisation, a rapid decrease, and finally a gradual decrease. It is observed that the radiation transfer heat is relatively less compared with an industrial furnace. In summary, the formation and motion of the gas bubbles are similar to the cold bottom blow process.
