Research status and progress of electrocaloric effect refrigeration device

Abstract: Electrocaloric effect(ECE) is a phenomenon of temperature lift in the material when exposed in a rather large electric field .Since giant effect (large temperature lift) of electrocaloric material(ECM)has been found by researchers in recent years, there emerging an increase of the research on electrocaloric refrigeration.The most important is the applications including quantities of EC prototypes and models. This paper systematically analyzes the devices and models in published literatures,and sorts out them according to their functional principles, characteristics, research status and challenges.We classify electrocaloric devices and models based on the presence or absence of heat switch or medium , the maturity of technology,etc . This probably can provide a reference for researchers on their further research of EC devices and models.
