In laser heating diamon anvil cells, the solid-liquid transition temperature of diamond has been studied up to 30 GPa. Under high pressure, the melting temperature of diamond clearly shows a negative pressure dependence, which is similar with the behavior of silicon and germanium. It indicates a complicated state of liquid carbon under high pressure high temperature conditions.
