Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPTs) play an important role in Photovoltaic (PV) power systems because they maximize the power output from a PV system for a given set of conditions, anssd therefore maximize the array efficiency. This paper proposes an intelligent control method for the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of a photovoltaic system. A fuzzy logic- based P&O control technique is implemented to generate the optimal voltage from the photovoltaic system by modulating the duty cycle applied to the buck boost Dc-Dc converter. The proposed algorithm gives a good maximum power operation of the PV array under different conditions such as varying irradiation, temperature and load. Simulation results obtained are presented and compared with the conventional MPPT P&O controller.
