The use of smartphone has taken a great consideration in telemedicine services. In this paper, we propose a real time mobile health system between specialists for sharing digital image processing, screening ophthalmic diseases and monitoring patients with known diseases from indoor or outdoor environments.
The design and the development of applications of mobiles peripherals are still growing by the fact of more strong mobiles terminals adoption and the emergence of new uses and services. Therefore, the lack of maturity for the proposed solutions by different constructors makes the majority of their embarqued systems less open no interoperable. Thus, it is always necessary, during a development on mobile, to find a compromise between the global performances and the portability of applications, which we want to conceive.
Our attention has been focused on the choice of a relevant work. It concerns the design and the implementation of an intelligent mobile platform integrated with a microscopic lens to identify retinal diseases at initial stage at any time or anywhere in a nonhospital setting. These research works recall then, a complete architecture of an economic wireless transmission system with the implementation of the effective calculation algorithms, adapted to the mobile terminal, allowing to the doctor to have and to share the digital image processing and the analysis results carried out on smartphones via the mobile environment. This mobile platform diagnosis system uses morphological operations by exploiting the library “OpenCV” to analyze the retinal images captured by the microscopic lens to identify retinal disease conditions. The algorithms are developed on Android environments and are adapted according to their use context (mobile environment) in order to optimize the performances and to better exploit the environment conditions. The mobile platform also offers a fast image transfer service by exploiting compression method. It implements JPEG-LS coding to reduce the size of different medical image formats to overcome the saturation of storage devices and the bandwidth during transmitting this data.
