摘要：教材建设是一个涉及到教材的设计、评价、改编、补充、发展的动态过程。教材的设计、内容和类型不仅影响学习者的学习方式及水平，也影响学习者思想和心灵。把英语经典名篇作为教材内容的理论与实践基础有右脑学习理论、全人教育理论、医学、科学及生命科学的发现、原典英语学习法、中国古代及现代汉语经典诵读学习实践、英语大师学习实践经验等相关的理论与实践。《英语名篇诵读与赏析》这本教材原型为英语名篇诵读课程的讲义，自2012年开始使用，不断得到修改与完善。到2018春季学期为止，11个学期的教学实践证实了英语名篇经典的学习是培养学生人文素养有效途径，这种教材应该予以重视和大力发展。本教材注重内容的设计选材，通过文章、背景知识、思考题等板块，使学生深入了解名篇的意义并发展批判性思维，从而实现帮助学生领悟人文精神——有德之士的要素。

Abstract:
Teaching materials development is a dynamic process that involves paper layout, evaluation, adaptation, supplement to materials. Their design, content and types not only influence the learning methods and levels of learners but their mind and heart. Taking English Classics as learning content has a solid foundation of theory and practice or experiments which include right brain learning, whole person education, new foundlings of medicine, science and life science，Homer English，recitation learning practice of ancient and modern Chinese classics, the learning experiences of English gurus in China and so on. English Classics—Recitation and Appreciation started as the lecture sheets or the unpublished textbook in the course with the same name since the Autumn Semester of 2012. Until the Spring Semester of 2018, the teaching and learning of 11 semesters have proved that English Classics is an effective approach to cultivating humanism and the teaching materials of English Classics are worthy of commitment and vigorous expansion. The textbook values paper layout, and choice of materials. Learners get deeper understanding of some articles of English Classics and develop their critical ability by learning texts, background knowledge, sayings and questions and other content. All these contributes to learners’ access to one of the educational purposes—cultivating humanism—a requisite of virtuous or good people.
