The Complex Systems Science is designing new interdisciplinary ways of studying the universe in its diversity. Concerning to dimensional stone exploitation and its risk management (for example occurrence of accidents in these mines implies the need of prevention) be effective and adapted as much as possible to reality, must be operational within complex systems, as already demonstrated in different R&D environments.
This paper presents an application with real data of multivariable function analysis methodology approach previously developed to mining sector. This algorithm based on complex system modelling and through real data corresponding to a risk management tool in the dimensional stone exploitation.
The pertinent aspect of this research is that it proposes the understanding of the dimensional stone exploitation as a complex system and risk itself understood as a management variable. When applying a multivariable function analysis methodology approach through complex system modelling comprising a three-dimensional axis analysis model. Each of the three axis (X, Y and Z) comprehends a multi-variable linear function f i: X: f_1 (management variables related to dimensional stone exploitation); Y: f_2 (variables related to risk management systems) and Z: f_3 (variables related to complex systems).
Validating the algorithm and parametrizing the axis with real data it endorses to decision makers organization sustainable and integrated risk management indicators. Decision makers can find in complex systems a supporting tool. Such evidence shows the management approaches to mathematic results, thus representing the zero domain of the basic functions as non-exposure to hazards. It is then foreseeable to develop mathematical modelling of decision making criteria in engineering complex systems applied to risk management to improve safety in dimensional stone exploitation.
The outlook aspect of this research is that it proposes the understanding of the dimensional stone exploitation sector as a complex system and risk itself understood as a management variable when designing a multivariable function analysis methodology approach through complex system modelling. It can effectively correspond to a risk management tool not only in the mining industry, but also transversal to other hazard bearing sectors in any economic activity, and it may provide sustainable and integrated risk management indicators to organizations. Real work context data is critical to validate the proposed mathematical algorithm into a management model.
