Study on rockburst prediction and control in the panel with extremely thick coalbed and large mining depth

rockburst prediction and control is the premise and guarantee of safety mining. The paper took a coal mine in China as an example, it predicted the risk of coalbed and panel by measuring rockburst proneness of coalbed, similar material simulation experiment and comprehensive index method under special conditions of extremely thick coalbed and large mining depth, finally put forward to reasonable measures for rockburst control. The result showed that the coalbed belonged to weak burst potential. Under the dual influence of large mining depth and height, the stress accumulated in coal pillar was very high between panel 73005 and panel 83003. The stress concentration had been up to 3.12, and panel 83003 existed a possibility of rockburst during the mining. Evaluation results of comprehensive index method showed that panel 83003 existed medium risk of rockburst under the influence of geology and mining. High-pressure water injection, borehole pressure relief and strengthened roadway support were applied to panel 83003. Through numerical simulation analysis and electromagnetic radiation monitoring, it can be seen that the rockburst in the panel 83003 was effectively controlled. The research results have significant reference value for similar panel and coal mine.
