This study analysis the vibration signals of the fault Squirrel Cage Induction Motor (SCIM) with the unbalanced voltage and single-phase faults using a high-frequency signal from a handheld UWB radar. The high-frequency signal based method is a non-contact method, requires expert to analysis the faults. Therefore, in this paper a simple, low cost and non-invasive method proposed. The proposed method process the signal with a software phase locked loop (SPLL) algorithm and analysed with signal analysis algorithm to identify the faults. In this method, a high-frequency signal from handheld UWB radar is projected on the SCIM and the reflected signal is captured. The acquired signal is analysed to identify the spectra of the faulted motor using FFT. Subsequently, according to the spectra, the fault in the SCIM is identified. The proposed method is accurate and economical.
