A Caching-aware Interference Management Scheme in Small Cell Networks with Wireless Backhaul

Small cell network is a promising approach to improve network capacity due to the high link quality and spectrum utility efficiency. There are two major factors that affect the bandwidth available in a small cell network: wireless backhaul capacity and interference from neighbor cells. Through caching in small cell base stations (SBSs), the demand on backhaul resource is reduced. To mitigate inter-cell interference and improve transmission quality, Coordinated Multipoint Joint Transmission (CoMP-JT), which allows multiple senders to transmit concurrently, was developed. However, CoMP-JT requires more backhaul resources and more caching capacity. This paper jointly considers the transmission mode selection and the caching scheme to minimize wireless backhaul resource consumption. Our simulation results show that the cachingaware interference management can effectively reduce backhaul resource consumption.
