活动简介

The constituent conference conducted by School of Architecture of GECT as a part of ICETEST 2018 is on the enabling theme of Changing Cities-Green Architecture and Energy Management and is aptly titled ICCC-2018.

At the core of urban sustainability ideologies lie the pertinent challenges to adopt smart, efficient, green and just (appropriate) strategies to impart resilience in the urban realm. Past few decades witnessed tremendous development in renewable technologies and its use in the built environment to achieve energy efficiency and sustainability. The consequent Green Building Movement that gained remarkable momentum in the new millennium envisioned the regulation of architecture, urban design and development planning strategies to check overuse and abuse of critical environment systems and make energy use responsive, efficient and accountable. Many technological, economic and environmental developments over the years have helped to overcome challenges in energy management and resource consumption by achieving cost effectiveness, adaptability and social awareness. Green Architecture and Energy Management concepts respond to changing conditions of the built and un-built environment by leveraging energy auditing in such a way that it dictates energy consumption.

More recent trends focus on smart growth proposals for cities emphasizing the need for nature based solutions in energy efficiency through creation of ecosystem infrastructure and low/zero impact approaches based on technology driven resource utilization. These new strategies also adopt the concept of justice, fairness and equity to achieve environmental sustainability by developing a social structure that determines the distribution of environmental benefits and burdens. These strategies also focus on social inclusiveness through participation of even the underrepresented community in environmental decision making. As cities continue to grow under economic and environment uncertainties these solutions need to be more focused by developing context specific solutions and evolve better practices and policies to reinforce green architecture and energy management concepts. This conference aspires to bring together architects, urban designers, landscape designers and urban planners; to explore emerging paradigms on the topic and create an intellectual forum of transaction of ongoing research and development in sustainable architecture and urbanism.

In tune with the above objective, the Conference Secretariat requests the pleasure of participation from researchers, practitioners, academia and all others interested in/associated with the theme of Changing Cities-Green Architecture and Energy Management by contributing research papers/articles for oral/poster presentation as well as by attending the conference. The papers may be related to one or more of the topics listed in the Section on Conference Topics.
